Points of Pride
Hillsborough County Public Schools has maintained a productive relationship with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) since 1914, resulting in the accreditation of all of our high schools. District accreditation means that all of our schools are now SACS accredited. The district office now has the responsibility for ensuring that all schools meet high standards through the Strategic Plan and the School Improvement Process.

SACS District Accreditation assures that all people, processes, departments and operations in the school system work in concert to increase student learning and organizational effectiveness.

Spoto High School's Academy of Fashion Technology and Design program is one of only a few programs in the nation recognized by the National Career Academy Coalition  as a NCAC model academy. The program has previously been featured on WFLA and My Fox Tampa Bay.

Spoto's Naval JROTC program has the distinction of being the first JROTC program in Hillsborough County to compete in the National Academic, Athletic, and Drill Championship. It was featured in the Osprey Observer.

The first cohort of Spoto's Advanced Academy of Film Production and Design graduated in June 2015. They traveled to Los Angeles, Orlando, and San Diego to participate in various competitions and to take professional courses with the Student Television Network. They also competed at the Skills USA State Championships. One student had a film featured in the Gasparilla International Film Festival. Through the academy, students have also worked with Bright House Sports Network to submit content for their webpage and cable channel. The inaugural class finished with 51 industry certifications, including a professional level exam for Apple's Final Cut Pro.
