It is never too early to start the career exploration process for high school students. There are several free websites that can help students find a direction to prepare for life after Spoto. Please check out the websites below and contact our College & Career Counselor if you need additional help.

My Career Shines - Offers a career interest inventory, resume builder, work values sorter, and more. Students can create a profile and save their test results for access at any time. The career interest inventory will ask students a series of questions to determine their top two interests. Students can then see occupations with people who have similar interests. Students can also see the education required for career fields, view videos of occupations, and much more. Overall, this is a great tool for students and their families.

Occupational Outlook Handbook - Developed by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. This website allows students to search from thousands of occupations by occupation group, or students can search for a specific job. Students can view the education required for certain careers, the job outlook from 2010-20, what people do in their fields, and much more. We usually recommend a student complete an Interest Profile through My Career Shines to help narrow their search prior to visiting the Occupational Outlook Handbook; however, students can visit this website at any time to perform career research.
